Timelines of an immigrant, her daughters, unintentionally striving for assimilation, the amalgamation of cultures, and Catholicism.

In this series of work, I am creating distorted timelines that discuss the story of my mother’s immigration to the United States. I also depict timelines about my story as the child of an immigrant and as a biracial person, and my personal views and experiences with Catholicism, and the assimilation of our Colombian culture to American culture. These images are presented as distorted timelines. The distorted images are meant to represent how each person remembers the past. When seeing a moment of time in our mind, it is never completely clear, bits and pieces are forgotten by our mind. The way we remember our memories will never be accurate to the truth of those moments.

We remember the past the way that we choose to remember the past.
